Reasons Why I Believe in the Biblical Definition of Marriage
1.
I have defied God regarding things in the Bible
that I didn’t like and didn’t want to obey. That never ended well because God
disciplined me (Hebrews 12:7-12).
“Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son
is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone
undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.
Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected
them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and
live! Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but
God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No
discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it
produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained
by it.”
2.
I found that God pours blessing upon me when I
do what He desires (Malachi 3:10)
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my
house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw
open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not
have room enough for it.”
3.
I am commanded to love my neighbor and know that
condoning his/her sin is to their detriment.
“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always
protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:
6-7
4.
It isn’t loving to support someone whose sin God
says will keep him/her out of heaven.
“Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do
not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters not adulterers not
male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor greedy nor drunkards
nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what
some of you were but you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the
Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6: 9-11
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to
death.” Proverbs 14:12
5.
I really love the ones who struggle with same
sex attraction and want to see them in heaven with me. I KNOW God loved me
before I repented of my many sins yet I was blissfully unaware that those sins
would send me to hell. It is obedience that pleases God and repentance that
saves.
“Not
everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but
only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21
Although I hate being called a bigot and judgmental I know
whom I serve and care more about pleasing Him than any whom falsely judge my
motives. So along with Jesus I say what he said regarding the woman caught in
adultery …” neither do I condemn you... Go now and leave your life of sin.”
John 8:11
